Abstract

Mapping team process

Team studies increasingly include process variables such as reflexivity, communication, and cohesion. These matter because they affect team effectiveness and performance. Although multiple processes are ongoing in teams at any given point in time, scholars have paid little attention to questions such as how processes relate to each other, whether some matter more than others, and why and how they impact team performance similarly or differently. This study examines team process variables with the help of process theory to assess in how far these variables are truly processual in capturing the idea of temporal unfolding. It then investigates these variables and their effects based on surveys. A tentative conclusion is that scholars need to pay more attention to different types of team processes.
