Dear prospective students,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these are uncertain times, including for those making choices about their future education and where to study. The University of Groningen, and the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute, in particular, is working hard to enable excellent online learning and research facilities. Our education is conducted entirely in English and makes use of a wide range of online education, training and research tools that have already been developed. We are therefore confident that any student entering our bachelor or master astronomy will receive a learning and research experience of the highest international standard even in the current times. In case of questions, please feel free to contact us at any moment by sending an email to

Best wishes

The Kapteyn Director
