University Minors

Discover new knowledge with a university minor

A university minor brings together students from across the University of Groningen. You’ll explore a different academic field and gain insight into the knowledge, methods, and applications used there. It’s an opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of your own degree programme and learn how other disciplines think and work.

Why take a minor?

A minor is more than just an extra set of courses, it’s a chance to:

  • Broaden your academic horizons
  • Discover new interests
  • Strengthen your CV and academic profile
  • Prepare yourself for a Master's degree or future career

Whether you want to deepen your knowledge, expand your perspective, or explore something completely new, a minor allows you to shape your degree in the direction that suits you best.

How to choose the right minor

Think about what you want to achieve:

  • Do you want to specialise further in your own field?
  • Are you curious to explore a new discipline?
  • Are you looking for something that complements your future Masters or career plans?

Tip: Talk to your study adviser or fellow students who have already taken a minor, they can share valuable insights and help you make an informed choice.
