Two EU-Erasmus+ partnerships within FSE

25 March 2021

Prof. Lucy Avraamidou of the Institute for Science Education and Communication ( ISEC ), Dr. Maaike de Heij (ScienceLinX), and Dr. Ria Dolfing (PIE group) are partners in two EU-Erasmus+ projects.

  • Prof. Lucy Avraamidou of the Institute for Science Education and Communication ( ISEC ) is partner in the recently funded EU-Erasmus+ project ‘STEM Digital Distance Learning in Higher Education’. The project is coordinated by the University of Crete in Greece and it brings together partners from Germany, Estonia, Ireland and the Netherlands. In response to COVID-19 related educational challenges, the project aims to develop a set of online learning environments and digital instructional materials for STEM topics (e.g., nanotechnology, climate change, plastic waste, renewable energy) that can be utilized by teacher education programmes as well as STEM university programmes. All instructional materials will be publicly available through a multilingual, open-access, educational platform. The total budget is EUR 295,000 EUR and the UG’s share is EUR 58,000.
  • Dr. Maaike de Heij (ScienceLinX), Prof. Lucy Avraamidou (ISEC) and Dr. Ria Dolfing (PIE group) are partners in a recently funded EU-Erasmus+ project coordinated by the University of Valencia in Spain titled Virtual Hackathons. The project brings together 7 partners from Cyprus, Germany, Greece and the Netherlands who will collaborate for the development of an innovative learning platform to facilitate the training of university students in virtual technologies and the organization of teams to participate in virtual hackathons related to sustainable development goals. Dr. De Heij is leading the UG team, which is responsible for the development of a virtual course that focuses on the development of STEM university students’ design and system thinking skills. The total budget is EUR 289,000 and the UG’s team share is EUR 41,840.
