Change to the selection procedure for Exchange
Starting from 2026/27, the procedure of placing students for the Law Exchange Programme will change. The new system entails the following:
- if you apply for a partner university for which you meet the requirements and there are less applications than available spots, you will be placed at that partner university.
- if you apply for a partner university for which you meet the requirements and there are more applications than available spots, a lottery will be applied.
In case a lottery is necessary, you will be assigned a random lottery number in Mobility Online and placed in ascending order, where lower lottery numbers have priority over higher lottery numbers.
It is still required to provide a set of documents to support your application. These documents will be used to assess whether or not you meet the minimum requirements for the partner universities of your choice and can partially be re-used for your application at the university you will be placed at. As always: please make sure to research your chosen destinations carefully, as placement is final. The motivation letter and budget overview will help you in doing so. In all cases, the level of your studies and the study progress will still influence the placement. For example, a Master student has priority over a Bachelor student for a placement at a partner university offering only Master-level courses. In addition, students who are still missing first-year courses at the moment of application (provisional nominations for LLB students) can only take part in the second selection round.

Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to all the participants. We received many great pictures and videos from your exchange and were able to see our partner universities and countries through your eyes.
