Master’s student Bram Klein Kranenbarg has been awarded the SLF Graduation Prize 2018. In the final round, he beat Collin Drent of the Eindhoven University of Technology. Both gentlemen had 5 minutes to convince the jury at the Service Logistics Summit, after which Bram Klein Kranenbarg was unanimously voted the winner.

Bram will take home the first prize of €1000 for his Master’s thesis entitled Condition Based Maintenance Optimisation of Wind Power Turbines. Bram is a student of the English-taught Master’s degree programme in Industrial Engineering and Management.

Service logistics prize
The SLF Graduation Prize, which was now awarded for the eleventh time, is aimed at Bachelor’s and Master’s students graduating in the field of service logistics. By awarding this prize, SLF seeks to encourage talented service logistics students to develop innovative and practical methods to improve the sector.

Savings on wind turbines to be implemented
Bram’s thesis stood out through its high academic level, concise style of writing and clear presentation. Particularly his methodical approach to transforming raw sensor data into conditional data is innovative, widely applicable and thus relevant. In its decision, the jury was positively influenced by the fact that the company where Bram completed his graduation assignment will be implementing the identified savings and will also be issuing more graduation assignments.
