The University of Groningen is an ambitious university. In order to achieve its ambitions, the University invests in the training and development of its staff.
For example, the University offers an extensive internal training programme, including courses in various fields, such as
- Leadership for academic staff and support staff
- Careers orientation for academic staff and support staff
- Assistance in writing and presenting NWO grant applications
New professors are offered a special introductory programme.
New teaching staff are expected to gain the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), a certificate of didactic competence for lecturers in academic education. The UTQ programme is also available for current teaching staff. The University organizes workshops to help lecturers compile their UTQ portfolios.
There is a special mentoring project for female academics.
Staff development is also a standard component in the annual Results and Development interviews.
