About us Working at the University of Groningen Dual Career Support

Dual Career Support

What can the UG offer to my spouse/partner?

Dual-Career Support offers support and advice to partners of new academic staff members of the University of Groningen. Our team helps newcomers to build their social and professional networks within the city of Groningen.

Professionally, our career support consists of a personal intake meeting and (if necessary) follow-up meetings with one of our Job Coaches for job application support. This includes a complementary CV check and DCS partners can also apply for UG vacancies as an internal candidate.

Socially, DCS assists partners in building their network by facilitating opportunities to meet other internationals and enjoy cultural and social events. During the first year of employment of your partner, DCS members receive various benefits, like a discount to the Sports Organization of the UG, SPR and taking part in courses of our University health program Balans. If you want to learn Dutch, you can sign up for language courses at the Language Centre with a one-time discount of € 75,-.

There is a LinkedIn group for registered DCS partners, where vacancies are posted on a weekly basis and we keep members updated on fun events and social activities.

DCS works in close collaboration with external partners like the International Welcome Center North (IWCN), which provides information on various topics related to living in the Netherlands and organizes social events for internationals and Make it in the North, a job-platform for Internationals  looking for employment within the northern provinces of the Netherlands.
