Dual-Career Support for partners of new academic staff
Recruiting first-rate staff is an important priority for the University of Groningen (UG). In Groningen, we believe that exceptional teaching and research depend on a diverse academic community with a broad range of talents and nationalities. The UG is a great place to work for. Academic freedom, integrity, openness and inclusiveness are important core values.
We acknowledge that talented prospective staff often have talented partners who also wish to further their careers. The UG offers Dual Career Support in order to assist partners of new academic staff in building a new social network and looking for employment, an internship, voluntary work or further study opportunities. Therefore, we organize regular monthly meetings meetings in which partners can meet other partners and share experiences. These meetings can help building up professional and personal networks in order to pursue personal goals.
Please note that Dual Career support does not offer guaranteed results. Chances of finding a job depend on individual characteristics and the local job market. For most of the non-academic positions at the the UG, the ability to speak Dutch fluently is a requirement. The local labour market in general assumes applicants to speak Dutch. For non-academic positions at the UG, fluency in Dutch is also often required. So we advice you to learn Dutch as soon as possible.
You are eligible for Spousal Support if:
