Activities and workshops

How can my partner make use of the DCS career support?

Partners can request an intake interview with a DCS job coach to discuss their individual goals and needs. They will also have access to workshops, job application training, and vacancies at the UG.

What social activities does DCS organise?

Together with the International Welcome Centre North (IWCN), DCS organizes social events and meetings to help partners build their network in Groningen.

Finding a job

I’m having trouble finding a job. Can you help me?

DCS can help partners of academic staff in fine-tuning their letter of application and CV, building a network and presenting themselves effectively in network meetings or job interviews. We do this through career workshops and by facilitating individual sessions with a career counsellor.

As a partner of an academic staff member, do I get any preferential treatment for internal vacancies within the UG?

All internal vacancies for support staff are first posted on the UG intranet for five working days before being published externally. All interested staff and the partners of academic staff should first be given the opportunity to apply before the vacancies are published externally.

Can DCS guarantee that I will find a job within or outside the UG if I register?

DCS is not in a position to give any job guarantees. However, all our activities and events are aimed at helping partners of academic staff to find a job inside or outside the university.
