Wetenschapscafé Artificial Intelligence
|When:||Tu 26-03-2019 20:00 - 22:00|
|Where:||Het Oranje Bierhuis, Auckamastraatje 2, Leeuwarden|
Artificial intelligence (AI) makes the impossible possible and brings infinite new solutions, but there is also a dark side. How is AI used and misused and what will this mean in the (near) future? Learn more about the different sides and the impact on society and humanity in the upcoming Wetenschapscafé on 26 March, dedicated to the technological evolution we are in!
Machine learning, an application of artificial intelligence, provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience, without being explicitly programmed. But what does that really mean? And how can it be used in society? Dr. Marco Wiering, assistant professor in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen, talks about the possibilities of machine learning (ML).
Misuse of AI
AI entails many possibilities, such as medical diagnosis, chat bots and self-driving cars. But what about the dark side, where abuse is made and the technique is used for the wrong purposes? Dr. Tjeerd Andringa will highlight this other side, which provides input for an interesting discussion. Dr. Tjeerd Andringa is Associate Professor of Auditory Cognition at the Department of Artificial Intelligence.
