Staff members with discipline Psychology, Experimental

Academia develops at the interface of different fields. This is one reason why the University of Groningen is home to a wide range of fields, each with a great number of subject specialists. The overview below, which is based on a standard categorization of fields, will help you find the right expert for each field. If you cannot find the expert you are looking for in this list, try searching via a related field or faculty; you may find him or her there.

Focussing on action-perception learning and development from a combined perspective of Ecological Psychology and dynamical systems theory. Using Uncontrolled Manifold analyses and multifractal analyses to asses stability, variability, and interaction dynamics of the action-perception system. Studies exploratory processes to determine how new behaviors emerge and are stabilized during developmentand and learning. Uses a task perspective to develop serious games to train upper limb prosthetic use.

Keywords: Perception-Action, Motor Control, Motor Development, Motor Learning, Rehabilitation Training, Upper Limb Prosthetics, Tool Use, Motor Variability, Reaching, Grasping, Upper-Limb Control, Muscle Synergies

My research focusses on speech perception, in particular on the automatic and controlled processes that enable speech comprehension in optimal (e.g., native listening) and atypical conditions (e.g., hearing impairment, CI, non-native communications). I study the interrelation between sensory and cognitive processes and the role that language experience and perceptual plasticity play in shaping this relation.
