About CUOS
CUOS is situated at the interface between the student world and the university. The body supports student organisations and advises the Executive Board on policy relating to student facilities.
CUOS works with a wide variety of organisations, from sports and study associations to cultural and international organisations.
What are the board's duties?
The CUOS board consists of five members and is responsible for, among other things:

advising the Executive Board on the awarding administrative grants;

deciding on the awarding of subsidies and accomodations to student organisations;

managing the accomodation of organisations;

facilitate and monitor student facilities;

promote inclusion by awarding internationalisation grants;

advise the University Executive Board on all matters relating to studen organisations.
The roles within CUOS
The following portfolios are within the board:
President
The president is the first person to contact for communication and collaboration with various departments within the university. Responsible for general coordination, maintaining an overview, and keeping in touch with University Council parties.
Secretary and vice-president
Responsible for external communication from CUOS. Manage requests/applications from student organisations. Responsible for internal reporting and documentation of all incoming documents. nce
Finance
Responsible for the financial affairs of the CUOS. Preparing and keeping the budget up to date. Handling subsidy justifications from organisations.
Housing
First point of contact within the board for the organisations that receive housing from the CUOS. In addition, responsible for communication between the university's facility organisation and hosted student organisations.
PR & Communication
Responsible for presentation of the CUOS. Provision of up-to-date information through website management and Linkedin. Provides all general communication about application deadlines and other formal and informal information for both organisations and student boards.
Time commitment and compensation
A board year at CUOS lasts from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.

Average time commitment: approximately 2 days per week

Busier period: January to March

For the most part, you can plan your tasks yourself alongside your studies.
For the academic year, members receive a stipend equivalent to four months of board grants, in total € 3032,96.- via the university.

You can apply if you:

Are enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Groningen

Are interested in student organisations and university policy

Are preferably experienced in serving on a board or committee
