Exchange period for LLM students
While none of our one-year LLM progammes include studying abroad as part of their curricula*, you still have the opportunity to pursue a study abroad period as an exchange student at one of our Faculty's partner universities. In most cases this leads to an extension of your studies by half a year. Usually you would first complete all required academic commitments of your LLM here in Groningen. As an exchange student, you maintain your student status in the following academic year by paying the applicable tuition fees. During this extra half year (semester) you would hten spend your period of exchange at the partner university.
You are most welcome to apply to go on exchange as an extracurricular part of your LLM programme.
*Please note that while our LLM Energy and Climate Law does not involve a period studying abroad, this LLM programme does offer a dual degree option in which part of the programme is completed at our partner university in Washington, D.C..
To pursue this opportunity, you can best speak with our outgoing exchange officers at the beginning of your LLM and apply (through the required processes) to go on exchange for the following academic year.
