Frijlink wins Utrecht University Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Research 2015

17 June 2015

On June 12, Prof dr. Erik Frijlink, professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy of GRIP received the Utrecht University Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Research 2015 for his outstanding contributions to pharmaceutical science as well as translation of his research to pharmaceutical products. This award is given every two years by the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Erik Frijlink developed several solid dosage forms and drug delivery systems, of which especially the inhalers Novolizer and Genuair have had major impact in pharmacotherapy. In his acceptance speech prof. Frijlink showed the audience what new discoveries he was working on at the moment. His take-home message was “perform experiments, perform experiments, perform experiments”. Furthermore he challenged the audience not to write grant proposals, but to have fun with science instead, ultimately making patients life better and financing your science with licenses from patents.
