Two FSE researchers join Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities
Professors Inga Kamp and Martien Kas of the University of Groningen' s faculty of Science and Engineering have been appointed as new scientific members of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences (KHMW: Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen). KHMW members are responsible for organising scientific activities that reduce the distance between citizens and science.
Inga Kamp is professor of astronomy and Martien Kas professor of behavioral neuroscience.
Bridge between society and science
The KHMW is the oldest 'Learned Society' in the Netherlands, which has been promoting science by bridging science and society since 1752. Every year, new members are appointed in February. In addition to scientific members, these are also societal members. The KHMW currently has about 550 scientific members and over 400 societal members.
