Rastogi wins Langerhuizen Bate Prize for research into inclusive AI

Dr Ayushi Rastogi has been awarded the 2026 Pieter Langerhuizen Bate Prize by the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW). Rastogi has been awarded this prize for her research into the impact of AI on the work of software professionals with disabilities.
The award ceremony will take place on Monday June 29 at the Hondshon House, KHMW's headquarters in Haarlem. The Langerhuizen Bate Prize amounts to €25,000.
Inclusivity in AI
Rastogi is investigating how AI tools influence the work and opportunities of software professionals with disabilities. She does so by analysing large-scale development activities on online platforms for software development, such as GitHub. Rastogi’s goal is to contribute to more inclusive choices during the development of AI systems. Her research emphasizes that technological progress must reach everyone and that no one should be excluded. ‘AI must create opportunities for everyone, not just for the majority,’ says Rastogi.
