PhD supervisors

Qualification Supervision excellence at the University of Groningen

PhD supervision is an important and complex aspect of the work of an experienced researcher and scholar. You are at the same time content expert, co-researcher, coach, and assessor. As a supervisor, you play a key factor in the success of your PhD candidate.

To support you in this important role, the HR Learning and Development team, together with the Groningen Graduate Schools, has created a flexible and hybrid training course that will allow you to expand your knowledge, skills, and expertise, and enable you to become a more efficient and effective supervisor.

Online module and in-person workshops

The course is made of two parts: an online module, which you will be able to follow independently and at your own pace, and in-person workshops, where, together with colleagues from all UG faculties and with the facilitation of trainers and experts, you will practice and further deepen your supervisory knowledge and skills.

By completing the online module and a minimum of 3 in-person workshops you will earn the qualification of “Supervision excellence at the University of Groningen”. Please register first by completing the intake form, then sign up for the online course and register for three workshops, one from each of the three blocks below.

For questions about the course, or if you are having trouble with the registration, please contact Anna Salzano (a.salzano rug.nl).
