Catering
Vegetarian catering is the standard for all UG meetings, conferences, and events. Choosing vegetarian catering aligns with the principles of the Strategic Plan, which identifies sustainability as a core value of the University.
Why vegetarian catering?
Research shows that switching to vegetarian (and plant-based) catering positively contributes to reducing the University's CO₂ emissions, the health of staff and students, and the transition to more sustainable food systems.
Decision
In October 2023, the Executive Board decided to opt for vegetarian catering as standard, with the option of adjustment upon request. Several faculties had already initiated similar measures.
Hans Biemans (Vice-President of the Executive Board): 'Our society faces major challenges, such as safeguarding a livable planet. As a university community, we strive to reduce our climate footprint. The transition to vegetarian and plant-based catering is the next step in this process. I am proud that we are giving impetus to achieving our sustainability goals in this way.'
