Samenvatting:

Introduction

Patients with end-stage renal disease have two distinct therapeutic approaches: dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis), or transplantation (from a cadaver or a living donor). This research project focuses on perceived health status (PHS) and its determinants in these two groups.

Methods

Fro kidney transplantation patients (KT) evaluation of socio-demographic, psychological (GHQ-28, HADS), quality of life (SF-36) and medical data in third month (T1), 12th month (T2) and each year thereafter is planned. For patients on dialysis similar data collection procedure is planned on annual basis.

Aims

Change of PHS patients with kidney failure is important to consider when managing patients as well as its determinants. Possible differences in PHS between these two groups will be discussed too.
