Sandra Brouwer appointed as a professor
On December 1st 2014, Dr. S. (Sandra) Brouwer is appointed as a Professor of Social Medicine, in particular Work participation and Re-integration of Vulnerable groups. She is employed at the Department of Health Sciences of the University Medical Center Groningen. The charity Institute Gak Foundation financially supports her chair.
Brouwer’s research aims to enhance labour market participation of disabled and long-term ill people. Government policies have been introduced aiming at higher employment rate and wider participation in the labour market of these vulnerable groups. Scientific research in this field is highly relevant in order to design cost-effective programmes to increase sustainable employability of these vulnerable groups. This knowledge can support the research challenge Healthy Ageing of the UMCG.
