Berni J. Alder Award for Herman Berendsen
Emeritus professor Herman Berendsen, former group leader of Molecular Dynamics at the University of Groningen, has recently been honored with the Berni J. Alder CECAM Award. The award is presented triennially to scientists who have made an exceptional contribution to microscopic simulations.
Berendsen receives the award for developing the GROMOS software package and its associated force fields for the simulation of fundamental biochemical and molecular processes. His force fields for water are extensively used in biomolecular simulations.
