  • Dutch or English language proficiency (see Language requirements)
  • Meet the track specific criteria when applying for:
    -Klinische Psychologie
    -Clinical Forensic Psychology & Victimology
    -Clinical Neuropsychology, Klinische Neuropsychologie
    -Ontwikkelingspsychologie
Admission process

The admission board will determine whether you are admissible based on your previous education (including courses you must still complete before the start of the master's) and submitted application form. In order to be admissible you must satisfy all course requirements. Therefore, carefully inspect these before applying, verify whether you will actually completely satisfy them all and provide all information requested in order to avoid disappointments.

Some weeks after the admission deadline, you will be informed whether you are admissible for the master track(s) of your choice, whether you need to participate in the selection procedure and the next steps in your admission process. For more information see ‘How to apply’ and Application procedure.

Selection procedure
Most master's tracks have more admissible students than available places. This means that for these tracks you will have to participate in the selection procedure by means of a selection test. A few tracks do not require a selection procedure and allow you to be placed immediately. For more information see Selection procedure

Please note that until all requirements have been met before the start of the master's programme (including courses and diploma, possible proof of language proficiency and tuition fees), your admissibility will be considered conditional.

Application

How to apply?

Apply before 1 March* or 1 May** 2024 (depending on the track of your first choice) at both Studielink and the University of Groningen.

  1. Submit your application in studielink.nl for the Master Psychology. Please choose the track of your first choice here. You will be able to specify a possible 2nd track in the checklist (see 4.)

  2. Transfer the application fee. The payment deadline is the same as the application deadline!

  3. Complete your application in the Progress Portal. You will receive an email with your login details. Log into the system, complete your application and upload the required application documents. For more information kindly check our website or watch this video.

  4. Upload the filled in checklist in the Progress Portal. Carefully read the instructions. Make sure that you satisfy all requirements and provide all information requested as clearly as possible in order to avoid possible disappointment or ‘desk rejection’.
Please take a look at the examples of filled in checklists: example 1 / example 2

  5. Submit your application.

  6. Apply by 1 March or 1 May (depending on the track of your first choice, for more information see Selection Procedure).

Please note

  • You can only start the master if you have obtained your bachelor's degree before 1 September 2024.

  • Carefully make your choice of the preferred master track. Once placed, you cannot switch to other tracks. Even discontinuing your track and then applying for a different track is strongly disadvised, because even if you just started with your thesis, internship or skills course, you are not allowed to take these again in the new track. This means you would not be able to graduate in that track.
