Set up of the programme
The programme consists of the following compulsory modules for all specializations (total of 85 ECTS):
- Behavioural and Social Sciences: An Introduction (5 ECTS)
- Reflecting on Science (5 ECTS)
- Applied Statistics (5 ECTS)
- Seminar (5 ECTS)
- Three literature studies (15 ECTS)
- Traineeship (15 ECTS)
- Master's thesis (35 ECTS)
In addition, each specialization contains the following compulsory modules. Optional modules are added to complete the total study load of 85 + 35 = 120 ECTS.
- Social and Organizational Psychology
- Education and Development
- Psychometrics and Statistics
- Clinical Psychology

In addition, students may earn extra ECTS credits by attending an advanced English Writing Course (2.5 ECTS) offered by the University of Groningen Language Centre. For attending Summer Schools funding is available (EUR 250 per student + possible external funding). Students may also attend presentations by national and international scholars who are invited by academic staff and present their own research at national or international conferences.
Each student has a personal supervisor, who is a top researcher in one of the domains that is covered by the Research Master's programme. The supervisor, who will match up with the student’s specialization and interests, will provide guidance and support and helps the student to make choices with regard to programme issues and career planning.
