Inaugural lecture: Feenstra on measuring personalised care: on the economic evaluation of appropriate care

When a scientist is appointed professor, she or he holds an inaugural lecture: a public speech of maximum 30 minutes in the auditorium of the university for an audience. Often this speech is about the research area of ​​the newly appointed professor and his or her vision on it.

Pharmacoeconomic evaluations – that is, calculations of the costs and benefits of medication – are important for the informed implementation of personalised care. In her inaugural lecture, Talitha Feenstra uses examples to demonstrate how economic considerations can be taken into account when designing personalised care. She also discusses the role of mathematical models that simulate the disease process and how these can be used most effectively in pharmacoeconomic evaluations.
