NWO Grant for Graduate School of Science

01 September 2011

The Graduate School of Science of the Groningen Faculty of Science and Engineering (formerly known as the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) has been awarded EUR 800,000 by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) to appoint four PhD students in Evolutionary Biology. The funding forms part of NWO's Graduate Programme which aims to promote the development of Dutch PhD programmes.

Within the framework of NWO’s Graduate Programme, local and national research schools and Graduate Schools can apply for funding. A total of 49 schools and Graduate Schools applied for a grant, nineteen of which have now each received a grant of EUR 800,000 to appoint four PhD students. Thanks to the grants, they will be able to design a strong teaching and research programme to develop talented young scientists. A new round of the Graduate Programme is planned for 2012.
