‘Zernikeborg’ handed over to science faculty
Tuesday morning, 9 o’clock, the university’s Centre for Information Technology (CIT) officially handed over her building’s name ‘Zernikeborg’ to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The name is intended for the new building that will replace the Nijenborgh 4 complex.
Accompanied by a small brass band , a delegation of CIT staff transported the building name to the entrance of Nijenborgh 4 where CIT director Tjeerd Willem Hobma handed the name to Dick Veldhuis, Faculty Director. Directly after, University Board member Jan de Jeu unveiled the new name for the CIT’s building: the Smitsborg.
