Part of Nijenborgh 4 closed due to asbestos

10 September 2010
During the asbestos check taking place at the Nijenborgh 4 Natural Sciences building, asbestos particles were found in the night of 9 September in an air sample taken from building wing 16. For safety reasons and as a precaution, building wing 16 and parts of building wing 17 were closed immediately this morning. Further investigation is being conducted today (Friday 10 September) and in the weekend to discover the asbestos particles’ source. If possible, cleaning the source will begin this weekend.

Building wing 16 houses laboratories and offices. These will not be accessible to students and staff in the coming weekend due to the investigation and cleaning activities. Whether or not work can continue there next week will be announced Monday morning.
