Schrödinger, Erwin Rudolf Josef Alexander

The Austrian Erwin Rudolf Josef Alexander Schrödinger (1887 - 1961), son to a botanist, was a theoretical physicist.
He devised the Schrödinger equation, an equation that provides a way to calculate the wave function of a system and how it changes dynamically in time. It turned out to be equivalent to Werner Karl Heisenberg's matrix formulation of quantum mechanics
He coined the term quantum entanglement.
He is best known for his thought experiment Schrödinger's cat, in which a hypothetical cat in a closed box may be considered to be simultaneously both alive and dead.
