Printing

Since May 2023, Canon has been the UG’s new partner for all printing activities. Agreements have been made together with Canon in order to reduce the environmental impact of printing at the University as much as possible. The printers are, for instance, made out of bioplastics. These cause lower CO2-emissions compared to conventional plastics, which reduces the burden of the production process on the environment. The impact after the use phase of the appliances is also considered: 98% of all used bioplastics can be recycled.

In addition to the environmentally friendly hardware choices, efforts are also made to produce as little waste and emissions as possible while using the printers. All provided paper, for example, is produced fully carbon-neutral. The toner cartridges that are used are larger, reusable and leave no ink residue. Finally, the new printers are more energy efficient and save 82% of electricity. This leads to a reduction of 35.000 kWh per year.
