Visa
The Immigration and Service Desk (ISD) of the University of Groningen will apply for the student’s MMV visa and or/ residency permit on the student’s behalf. All visa and immigration matters are handled by our central ISD office. The Exchange Office of our faculty does not handle immigration matters.
The Immigration and Service Desk website have information on the visa type, FAQs, procedure steps, and a helpful contact form to assist students in what to expect and should they need assistance.
All students at the University of Groningen need Health Insurnace. More information can be found here.
Housing
SSH option:
Exchange students of UCG have the opportunity to live in the housing offered by SSH, a housing company that the University pairs with to help students find accomodation. Housing is not mandatory with SSH, but optional. There are contracts for a short-term rental (semester) or long-term (full-year).
The main website for SSH Groningen will provide you with an overview of costs and services. The average room cost with SSH is 700 EUR/month. There are multiple residences available, here you will find an overview of all the SSH locations that are available to UCG exchange students. For questions you might have regarding the housing and the payments, you can reach the SSH via email: info sshxl.nl or phone: 088-7304200.
SSH process: Upon approval of your exchange, the International Office of UCG will instruct students how to register and book through SSH.
Other options: There are alternatives to SSH, which can be found here. The International Office of UCG does not assist with the procedure for these options. We highly recommend using caution when going through 3rd party or social media listings to avoid scams.
Transcript
The Transcript of Records (TOR) will be provided to the partner and student within two months of the mobility period ending with our signature and University stamp.
