Participants are expected to be familiar with the legal concepts, legal institutes and working methods of the law system of their home country. Examining the way in which legal rules are drafted and complied with reveals the system's main characteristics in terms of the traditional fields of law as well as the relationships between them. Special attention is paid to the legal concepts and divisions on which the Dutch legal system is based. Questions of jurisdiction and organization are also dealt with. To illustrate the legal system's importance for society, current legal developments are discussed whenever possible.
