If you are interested in implementing global learning in the context of courses you are teaching (or planning to teach), come visit the ENVOIE project presentations at the University of Groningen Education Festival on 12 April.

ENVOIE is an e-Learning project which aims to promote Online International Exchange (OIE) as innovative educational practice in the University of Groningen ( OIE is a form of computer-mediated learning whereby students from geographically remote classes work together online (in pairs or small groups) on learning tasks developed by teachers and educational supporters from the participating institutions.

After a brief introduction by the project manager Sake Jager on how ENVOIE is creating opportunities for online international learning, Peter Groote (Spatial Sciences), Bartjan Pennink (Economics and Business), and Janny de Jong and Senka Neuman-Stanivukovic (Euroculture, Arts) will be talking about how they have implemented online tools and tasks in their courses in which the students work together with students from partner institutions in other countries.

The instructors will pay attention to the learning objectives which these tasks are intended to meet and the experiences gained up to now by students and teachers from this innovative form of online learning.

The following video, based on the Nusantara Worldwide Collaboration project, in which Economics and Business students have participated as part of the FEB Learning Community on Careers Services, gives an impression of what students and teachers may gain from this type of online collaborative work:

During the session, these and other experiences will be shared with the audience, together with suggestions on how others could go about setting up similar online international exchanges. The session should be of interest to educators, policy makers, international officers and other colleagues seeking to implement such forms of learning.
