About us Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Mobility Office - Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Incoming Study in Groningen

Exchange possibilities

Our exchange programmes give international students a genuine taste of what student life in Groningen is like. Exchange programmes vary from 1 semester (September - February or February - July) to a full academic year, and can be arranged if your home university has an exchange agreement with the University of Groningen / Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (see ‘Who can apply?’).

The Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the University of Groningen has established exchange agreements with nearly 200 partner universities worldwide. If your university is an exchange partner of the Behavioural and Social Sciences of the University of Groningen you can apply for a study abroad period. If your university does not have an exchange agreement, and you have very specific reasons why you must do an exchange with us, you could consider applying as freemover.

As an exchange student you do not have to pay tuition fees at the University of Groningen, but you will continue to pay tuition fees at your home institution. You can choose from a wide selection of courses (see ‘what can I study?’). The credits you gain in Groningen will translate to your degree programme back home.

The Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the University of Groningen welcomes over 300 international exchange students each year. See what other exchange students say about spending a semester in Groningen.
