Talent Grants and Scholarships at the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society

For the 1-year MA programme in Theology and Religious Studies, there are several Talent Grants available for each track in the MA-programme:

• Religion, Conflict and Globalization
• Heritage and Religion
• Religion and Pluralism, Ancient and Modern

Specifications

• € 5,000 for one year
• For excellent international students from OUTSIDE the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
• You can apply for the scholarship only after you have received an admission offer from the University of Groningen .
• Deadline: 1 March

Yearly, there is one Talent Grant available for an excellent student in the Research Master's Programme.

Specifications

• 50% of the total 2-year tuition fee.
• for excellent international students from OUTSIDE the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
• You can apply for the scholarship only after you have received an admission offer from the University of Groningen .
• deadline: 1 March

The scholarship is specifically for students in the fields of Hebrew Bible, early Judaism and Dead Sea Scrolls, enrolled in the two-year Research Master's Programme.

Specifications

• € 1,000
• for excellent Dutch and inter national students (both EU and Non-EU), wishing to specialize in the fields of Hebrew Bible, early Judaism and Dead Sea Scrolls
• deadline non-EU/EEA students: 1 March
• deadline EU/EEA students: 15 May
• you can apply for the scholarship only after you have received an admission offer from the University of Groningen for the Research Master's Programme or after you have enrolled in the Research Master's programme.

The NL Scholarship is is awarded yearly to one non-EU student in either the one-year or the two-year MA programme in Theology and Religious Studies.

• € 5,000
• for excellent international students from OUTSIDE the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
• deadline first call: 1 February
• deadline second call: 1 May
• All applicants for the second call will be placed on the reserve list. You can apply for this second call between 2 February and 1 May. You can only apply for one call (first or second call).
• you can apply for the scholarship only after you have received an admission offer from the University of Groningen

The Wessel Ganzevoort Fund can support students of the Faculty with:

• Purchase of books
• Publications
• Organisation of conferences and sessions on conferences
• Study Trips
• Other research activities

Please note: As the Talent Grants and Holland Scholarship do not amount to a full scholarship, you should acquire additional funding in order to fully finance your study. One of the requirements for being granted a residence permit in the Netherlands is that students must submit proof that they have sufficient financial means to finance their study period in the Netherlands. The University of Groningen advises a budget, not including the tuition fee, of approx. € 10.000 to € 14.000 per year to cover the costs for rent, insurance, living expenses, course books and local transportation. How much money students actually spend will of course depend on their life style and spending habits.

• Full scholarship provided to the most excelling full-time students.
• A monthly allowance of EUR 1.400 to cover travel, visa, installation and subsistence costs.
• A full (participation) fee waiver
• Insurance in line with EACEA requirements
• Deadline: 15 January
