Folkert Nobels wins Aart Bosman Award
Folkert Nobels, Master's student in Physics and in Astronomy , has been awarded the Aart Bosman Student Excellence Award, making him the best student of the University. Nobels has completed two Bachelor's programmes at cum laude level, the Bachelor Honours program, and is also involved in extracurricular activities.
The award consists of a scholarship for study or research worth €2500 and is annually awarded to the best student. The winner is chosen from the GUF 100 prize winners in the University. Last year, the prize was also awarded to a student of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Thomas Hoeksema, Master’s student in Computing Science.
Best UG student
Folkert Nobels completed two Bachelor’s programmes, in Physics and in Astronomy, at cum laude level and completed the Bachelor Honours program. Currently, he is following two Master’s programmes, also in Physics and in Astronomy. Nobels is also active in extracurricular activities. Last year, he and a fellow student established an international study association for astronomy students and he is volunteer at the Blaauw Observatory and the JWG (youngsters work group astronomy).

Summer Ceremony
of the University of Groningen last Friday. With this academic event the official end of the academic year is celebrated and talented students and researchers of the University are honoured. Besides the GUF 100 awardees and the Aart Bosman awardee (students), the winner of the
Wierenga Rengerink PhD Award , the Alumnus of the Year, and next year’s international alumni ambassadors are announced.
