Uploading videos in Nestor
Would you like to upload a video from your own computer/laptop and add it to your own Nestor course? You can now with the new P2Go Upload function in Nestor. This manual provides a step by step instruction to adding your videos to Nestor.
Steps to upload a video
Step 1. Go to your Nestor course and press ‘Course Tools’. Then select the option ‘P2Go Upload’ and repository 'Educational videos for this course'. The following screen will appear:
Step 2. Under ‘Asset details’ you can fill out the following details:
- Subject Areas (required): Here you select the subject of your video. The default is 'undefined'.
- Title (required): Here you give the video a title.
- Description: This field allows you to enter a short description.
- Faculty: Select your faculty. The default is 'other'.
The academic year and course code are entered automatically. The e-mail paired to your Nestor account will be entered as the Contributor for the video.
Step 3. After you filled out the necessary fields press 'Add File' and select the file on your computer. You can add any video file you wish. Then press 'Submit' to upload the file.
Step 4. The video will now be uploaded to the Nestor course. It can take a couple of minutes before the video has been fully uploaded. How long this takes depends on the file size as well as the number of videos being uploaded by all users at that moment. Keep in mind that very large videos(longer than an hour) can take a few hours to be available.
Step 5. When the video has been uploaded successfully you can add the video to a Nestor course to show it to students. Only instructors and administrators of a course can publish any uploaded videos inside a course. You can always add the videos you uploaded yourself anywhere in Nestor. There are two ways to add videos. 1) The P2Go List option makes all videos available that belong to a course. 2). The P2Go Item course allows you to select one video to be shown.
