Diversity and inclusion are fundamental principles within the academic community. The D&I statement outlines key definitions and the core values that guide related policies and practices.

University Action Plan Diversity and Inclusion

The overall goal of the UG’s Diversity & Inclusion policy is to ensure that students and staff feel at home and experience a sense of belonging.
Focus points for 2021-2025:

  1. We will communicate that the visibility and urgency of the theme of diversity and inclusion is a precondition for academic success and is part of the UG’s Strategic Plan.
  2. We will raise awareness of the added value of diversity and the existence of privilege and bias to achieve a change in culture towards more inclusion.
  3. We will pursue an active diversity and inclusion policy to help create equal opportunities for everyone; we will involve and consult the various stakeholders.
  4. We will carry out a baseline measurement and monitor the effectiveness of the D&I policy and actions by introducing a monitoring system or by using an existing one.

The UG’s Diversity and Inclusion Office writes and annual Action Plan projecting into the upcoming year, and a Results Report, reflecting back over the previous year. You can find them below in chronological order. In addition, early 2024 a Mid-Term Progress Report was written to summarise progress to date.

With this Gender Equality Plan, the Board of the UG wishes to emphasize the importance of gender equality in academia and to actively promote gender equality within the University. This plan gives an overview of the measures that we have already taken, and will continue to take or develop.

HR Excellence in Research

HR Excellence in Research

Since 2015, the UG has held the HR Excellence in Research award; a European recognition for strong and transparent HR policies for researchers. The award highlights the university’s ongoing commitment to open, fair, and supportive working conditions. Every three years, the action plan is updated and reviewed to maintain this recognition. In 2022, the award was successfully renewed following an external evaluation.
