Shelter City: Bike Challenge

When Shelter City welcomed the eleventh Dutch Shelter City to their network in December 2017, one of the first supporters of the programme reacted: “Wow, eleven cities. I feel an ‘Elfstedentocht’ is coming up!”.

In response to this challenge, and to celebrate the growth and success of the Shelter City Network and the cities role in supporting and protecting human rights defenders, Shelter CIty will cycle 780 km across all 11 Shelter Cities in just 6 days, raising money to provide more resilience trainings to human rights defenders in their network [read more!] . Their goal is to raise a total of €25,000!

The Bike Challenge will start on Monday 14 May in Groningen and end in Maastricht on Saturday 19 May. Please see the route below:

[Tue 15 May] Deventer – Utrecht 92 km

[Wed 16 May] Utrecht – Amsterdam - Haarlem – Den Haag 122 km

[Thurs 17 May] Den Haag – Middelburg 103 km

[Fri 18 May] Middelburg – Tilburg – Nijmegen 196 km

[Sat 19 May] Nijmegen – Maastricht 134 km
