Julia Doornbos, MSc

My research fits within the field of cultural geography, in which I focus on themes related to (forced) migration, identities, senses of belonging and everyday (family) life.

Aside from teaching, I am in the final stages of my PhD which focuses on postcolonialism in the Netherlands and specifically, uncovers how colonial family histories are transmitted intergenerationally and how these histories influence everyday lives of individuals of mixed Indonesian and Dutch descent.

Within UCG, I teach a variety of courses such as People, Place and Culture in a Global Context, Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis, Academic Skills and ECMS 2.
