Dr. Adriana Mattos
PhD. and MSc in Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, both at the University of Groningen (RUG); BSc. In Biology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)
What you teach at University College Groningen:
Courses in Health and Life Sciences.
During my PhD I have studied the effects of targeted delivery of Interleukin-10 to the fibrotic liver. I have also some research experience in parasitology and tropical diseases.
My favourite food is...
A good Brazilian barbecue and cherries. I love cherries!
My favourite thing about Groningen is…
Difficult to choose. I guess it is everything!
My favourite place in the world is…
Something most people don’t know about me is...
That I was born and raised in a military dictatorship and that I used to work as a professional swimming referee.
My biggest achievement is...
Raising my children. One is a nice grown woman that gave me a cute grandson. My two boys are still “work in progress”, but this is also going really well.
When I’m not working I’m busy...
Enjoying my family or a nice conversation with my friends.
My inspiration is...
Nature, science, reason and good-hearted people (Am I being cheesy?)
