This workshop focuses on using assessment in an international setting. Assessment is closely related to your teaching and learning activities. Therefore, if you are working on internationalising your curriculum or you have students from different cultural backgrounds it is also interesting to look at assessment. Ideas and expectations about assessment and grading can be different throughout the world. So, how do you recognize academic cultural differences with regard to assessment? In which way do you make assessment transparent and fair for all students? And how do you give feedback on the results of assessment to (international) students? These are leading questions in this course.
Learning outcomes
- To recognize academic cultural differences with regards to assessment;
- To make assessment (criteria) free of cultural subjectivity;
- To give feedback on assessment in an international setting.
