Starting a Virtual Exchange project
Does the current Corona crisis prevent your students from going abroad and do you still want to give them a transformative international experience?
Do you want your students to work together online with students from international partner institutions so that they learn to solve problems with learners from different educational and cultural backgrounds and develop global competencies?
This training will get you started on developing online international collaboration as part of the courses you teach!
Virtual Exchange (VE), also known as Online International Exchange (OIE), is a form of computer-mediated learning in which students from geographically remote classes work together online (in pairs or small groups) on learning tasks developed by teachers and educational supporters from the participating institutions.
For an example of what is involved in VE and how it may apply to your situation, watch this video produced by the training team:
During this two-week online training you and your colleague(s) from a partner institution will be introduced to Virtual Exchange (VE) and start preparing a plan for integrating VE into your courses. After the training, you will receive assistance from the UG professional development team to help you implement and run the project.
Online training, moderated by professional development trainers Educational Support & Innovation
2 weeks, self-paced + one synchronous session in week 2
Flexible space for a starting point, determined after consultation with the trainers.
Free (covered by educational innovation project ENVOIE)
Conditions for participation
Preference will be given to UG staff who have an international partner (colleague they want to work with) already and who are seeking to implement VE in the longer term.
After the training, we will provide individual mentoring and support for teachers setting up an exchange. A selection process for this will be started based on the proposals which you develop with your partners as part of the training.
To register please use the registration form. You will also be asked to include information on your international partner, if applicable.
