Within a day you get an idea which aspects play a role in making a VR or AR application that can be used on a head mounted display or in the university's own theatre or cave for your own research. We use the development environment Unreal Engine and the education is provided by developers who work with it on a daily basis.

Schedule of the day:

09.00 -10.00 introduction how to make a VR/AR application

10.00-11.00: introduction with the development environment Unreal Editor

11.00-12.30: start of making an application with a simple assignment. Which you can view in a VR glasses.

12.30-13.00: lunch (not included, there is a restoration facility in the Smitsborg);

13.00-16.30: further development of your application on the basis of assignments. Topics: reading ready data, decorating your application and interaction.

Some programming experience in for example Matlab, Pyton, javascript or C ++ is desired.

At the end of the course you have / can:

  • A good idea what it takes to make a vr-ar application.
  • You can create a simple application with file functions within Unreal Engine
  • You can estimate where you need extra support

There are opportunities to support you further from the visualization team when creating your own VR-AR Application.
