R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The language is very popular among academic scientists and researchers. R has a reputation of being hard to learn, maybe due to the fact that it lacks a Graphical User Interface (GUI). This introduction to R will give a starting point for people newly interested in R. It emphasizes on the understanding of how R works, with the aim of a beginner, rather than expert, use.
- Introduction to R and RStudio
- Reading, transforming and selecting data
- Data Visualization
- Analyzing data (performing statistical tests)
Presentation of theory, demonstrations, self study and hands-on practice.
Learn how to work with R to easily enter and transform data and how to analyze your data.
Experience with Windows.
Knowledge of basic statistical techniques is required: descriptive statistics, exploring relationships among variables (correlation, regression) and comparing groups (student t-test, crosstabs and Chi-square). No statistics education will be given during the course.
