The Physics Colloquium

Because of the COVID19 situation, there will be no General Physics Colloquia until further notice. For those MSc students, who will finish their programme soon, there have come up with the following set of rules that will allow to collect the required number (10) of attended colloquia. The rules for following online colloquia are the following:

-The current crisis affects this semester. Students finishing the MSc program this year are allowed to attend online colloquia to reach the required attendance of 10 colloquia.

-Students attending on-line colloquia have to write a short report about those (250 words per talk).

-The report contains a summary of the talk, and must include the URL, the title and location of the talk, and the name and affiliation of the speaker.

-Below you can find a list of  links to physics departments of some universities where the past colloquia can be watched online.
- https://physics.qc.cuny.edu/colloquium (they will stream the upcoming colloquia)
- https://www.physics.utoronto.ca/~colloq/
- https://physics.berkeley.edu/resources/colloquia-and-videos

-The reports need to be mailed to the colloquium coordinator Thomas Schlathölter (t.a.schlatholter rug.nl).

The Physics Colloquium brings distinguished scientists of national and international fame to the Physics Department of the Faculty of Sciences. Topics cover a wide range and the presentation is aimed at undergraduate students in the final year of the bachelor program. The colloquium should therefore be interesting to most members of our Faculty, and not necessarily Physics only.
In order to promote informal discussions between members of the audience and/or the speaker, coffee and cake is served before the colloquium (starting 3:30 p.m.), while refreshments are served immediately following the colloquium.
The colloquium normally takes place Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m in lecture hall 51.11.0080 of the Nijenborgh 4 central building. Please click on the colloquium to see the correct location.
