New editorial board established for University of Groningen Press
On 24 September 2025, the University of Groningen Press (UGP) officially welcomed its new academic editorial board.
It brings together academic expertise and perspectives from across the university. The board will work alongside UGP on its strategic direction and the further development of its academic publishing programme. For a Diamond Open Access press in particular, this academic involvement is essential: the publishing model is built around the scholarly community rather than around commercial publishing interests.
The board members are:
-
Lorenzo Squintani (Faculty of Law)
-
Roland Chiu (University College Groningen)
-
Wided Medjroubi (Faculty of Science and Engineering)
-
Miriam Arnold (Faculty of Economics and Business)
-
Titus Stahl (Faculty of Philosophy)
-
Julia Martínez-Ariño (Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society)
-
Matt Coler (Campus Fryslân)
-
Martin Kneijber (UMCG)
-
Iva van Halen-Peša (Faculty of Arts)
-
Wander Lowie (Faculty of Arts)
The board is co-chaired by Mladen Popović (Interim Dean, Faculty of Arts) and Giulia Trentacosti (University Library).
Establishing of an editorial board is an important milestone in UGP's development as a mature, community-driven academic publisher committed to the principles of Open Science.
