03 February 2015

Danielle Jansen, Auke Wiegersma and Manna Alma have been successful in a bid for a Horizon2020 grant. The project is called “MOCHA: Models of Child Health Appraised” in Horizon2020 call, ‘PHC-23: Personalising health and care’; Topic: Developing and comparing new models for safe and efficient, prevention oriented health and care systems.

With almost 20 researchers located in 13 countries in Europe, this project aims to demonstrate the optimal model(s) of children’s primary care with a prevention and wellness focus, with an analysis of factors (including cultural) which might facilitate adoption, and indications for policy makers of both the health and economic gains possible. Focus of the UMCG will be on the evaluation of school health services and adolescent health services. Next to this, the UMCG is involved in obtaining patient views of the current services, together with other countries that are part of the DIPEx International network. For this, a qualitative research methodology about patient experiences will be used including narrative and semi-structured interviews.

The project is worth € 6.8 million of which almost € 700.000 will come to the Department of Health Sciences of the UMCG. It will take 42 months, and deliver major awareness and potential benefit for European children’s health and healthy society.
