Language and Social Interaction

We study the situated joint construction of discourse by analyzing corpora of institutional interactions and everyday conversations. We focus on lexical, grammatical, prosodic, and multi-modal resources and patterns of sequential organization to answer theoretical questions of how social interaction is organized and how participants establish meaning. In addition, we collaborate with educational and health care professionals to study their interaction and contribute to the optimization of their professional practice.
