GCELS’s first contribution to the POCITYF project is now ready and available!

13 October 2020

The report deals with legal barriers to the transformation of culturally rich cities into smarter, more sustainable cities by retrofitting buildings and introducing innovative solutions such as vehicle2grid technology and smart grid management to reach “positive energy districts”.

The study takes into account international and European law, as well as the National laws and local government requirements applicable in the project’s lighthouse cities (Alkmaar, in the Netherlands, and Évora, in Portugal) and the six fellow cities (from Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia and Spain).

The analysis deals with energy, construction and heritage law in an international, European and national perspective. Furthermore, the requirements imposed by the local governments are also considered.

The report was written by Ceciel Nieuwenhout and Hugo Evangelista. It is available here.
